Although it has taken a while, fans of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck will declare that their official separation is now imminent.
The couple, who were married in Las Vegas just two years ago, have been at odds with one another for most of the last few months, which has fueled rumors and uncertainty about their future.
Readers may recall that earlier this year, Affleck moved out of the couple’s Beverly Hills residence. Although neither of them publicly discussed their marital status, it seemed like there was a divorce brewing.
And so it has turned out, as JLo is said to have now filed the required documents with the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Not surprisingly, the singer selected a highly meaningful date: precisely two years following the couple’s marriage.
According to TMZ, the couple’s official separation date is April 26, 2024. Lopez, on the other hand, is purported to have filed for the couple’s breakup on August 20, which is their second wedding anniversary, yesterday.Their turbulent romantic history dates back twenty years, to the early 2000s, when Affleck and Lopez rose to fame as one of the “IT” pairs in the entertainment industry. After becoming engaged, the couple decided not to forward with their wedding and moved on to discover new relationships.
Fans of the duo lovingly referred to as “Bennifer” were therefore overjoyed to hear that Ben and Jen were reuniting.
The celebrities resumed their relationship in 2021, and in April of 2022, they got engaged. Later that year, they got married in Las Vegas, but not before the gossip papers started to print reports of trouble in paradise.
In fact, it has seemed inevitable that Affleck and Lopez will split up during the last six months. It seemed inevitable that divorce papers would eventually be filed because rumors of their broken romance had been flying high and fast and neither of them was actively refuting them.
According to reports, J. Lo filed these documents on her own, without legal representation, and she requested that the court reject Ben spousal support in addition to surrendering her own claim to it.
Additionally, according to TMZ, JLO and Ben did not sign a prenuptial agreement, which means that whatever money they made during their nearly two years of marriage would be considered communal property. This information is included in the divorce filings.
